Ronald L. âRonâ Esarey, 83, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 16.
He was born in Tipton, Indiana on March 6, 1933 to Norman Marcus and Wilma K. Ulm Esarey, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1951 graduate of Brookville High School. He earned MVP honors in several sports and was Valedictorian of his class. He continued his education at Ball State University, where he earned Bachelors Degrees in Business and Physical Education and Masters Degrees in Accounting & Finance and Education. He coached basketball at Economy High School. He went to work at American Water Works Service Company and retired from the finance department there in 1994.
Ron was a faithful member of the Nazarene Church. He was active many years in the Lynn Church of the Nazarene, serving as a member and treasurer of the church board. He currently was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Richmond.
Ron will be missed by his wife, the former Joan Brady, who he married on September 3, 1955; daughter & son-in-law, Lynelle & William Payne; son & daughter-in-law, Steve & Debby Esarey; grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Roberts-Payne, Aaron and Katie Bushard-Payne and Courtney and Michael Daugherty; great-granddaughters, Neva Payne, Lydia Payne, Evalyn Daugherty Klaire Daugherty and Eden Payne; sister, Rita Jean Finch.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 20 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1600 Chester Boulevard in Richmond. Interment will follow in Earlham Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather from 9:30 amâ11:00 am on Thursday, October 20, at the church.
