Rosalee Jean Jackson, 79, formerly of Chester, passed away on Monday, January 3 at the home of her daughter in Independence, Kentucky.
She was born January 4, 1931 in Richmond, Indiana to Benjamin Barnes Weller and Nila Irene Kuhn Weller. She graduated from Fountain City High School in 1949, serving as Senior Class President and cheerleader on the 1949 sectional basketball champions. She continued to cheer during old-timers games in later years. She married Harold Kent Jackson on October 1, 1950 in the home they shared together in Chester until moving to Kentucky in March 2010. She raised 1 daughter and 2 sons at home while Harold was conducting on the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Mrs. Jackson was a long-time member of the Northside Church of Christ where everyone knew her and the special loving spirit she brought. She also was a beloved member, along with her husband, of the Richmond Area Railroaders Society where she enjoyed participating in the activities of the Society and working along side of her husband at the many area festivals.
Mrs. Jackson will be missed by her husband of 60 years, Harold Jackson; daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer Sue & R. Scott Paul, of Independence, Kentucky; 2 sons & daughters-in-law, James Harold & Linda Jackson, of Jamestown, Tennessee and Jeffrey & Deborah Ann Jackson, of Richmond; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Jackson of Port Ritchie, FL, Marilyn Weller of Eaton, OH; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her brothers, Dick Weller and Dave Weller.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by James Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson and Scott Paul at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, at the funeral home.
