Ruth Helen Myers, 94, formerly of Fountain City, passed away Monday, October 7, at her daughterâs home in Bay Minette, Alabama.
She was born June 30, 1919 in Randolph County, Indiana to Bert and Bessie Swain Bragg. She graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1938. She married Leondas Myers in 1941 and they shared 50 years together before his death on March 13, 1992.
Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and seamstress who once worked at the former Hoosier Store. She worshiped nearly 60 years at the New Garden Friends Meeting and belonged to the Womenâs Temperance Union. She enjoyed being hospitable to others, reading, sewing, gardening, canning, cooking and knitting. She leaves a legacy of spirituality to her family from the Godly life she lived.
Mrs. Myers will be missed by her daughter, Jane Snell, of Bay Minette, AL; son, John Myers, of Syracuse, IN; 10 grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Bowen, of Richmond; one brother, James Bragg, of Parker City; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Carolyn Beth Jones, in 2011; one son, Bill Myers, in 2010; one sister, Janice Thomas; and one brother, Evan Bragg.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by John Myers at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in New Garden Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, October 13, at the funeral home.
