Mrs. Ruth E. Welch, 94, of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, June 7 at Reid Health.
She was born on March 2, 1923 in Richmond, Indiana to William E. & Lora Huntsinger Hieger. She was a graduate of Williamsburg High School.
Ruth married Floyd E. Welch on September 5, 1943. They were blessed with four children and shared 65 years together before his death on March 9, 2009. She was a former member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn. She lived in Lynn most of her adult life and formerly worked in the Lynn School cafeteria. She was a former member of Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary of the Harry Howell Post in Lynn. She enjoyed sewing and was always willing to help feed others.
Mrs. Welch will be missed by her daughter, Mary Williams; son & daughter-in-law, John & Jan Welch; son, Jerry Welch; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Estelle Hieger; and many nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Fred E. Welch; siblings Irene Hay, Edwin Hieger, William Hieger, Jr., Mary Jane Summers Shore, Martha Starns, Henry Hieger, Esther Flora and Norman Hieger.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10 in Willow Grove Cemetery.
