Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Hamilton, 89, of Richmond, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Friends Fellowship Community.
She was born in Arba, Indiana on July 2, 1918 to Clarence J. "Dick" and Nellie Jones Lewis. She retired from Belden in 1980 as a cord finish operator after more than 25 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the Arba Friends Church, where she had served on several committees, the Ladies Aid Society and was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, who fondly remember her tradition of treating them to Dilly Bars on Friday nights.
Mrs. Hamilton will be missed by her nieces, Glenna Wong and Neva Mullins, Betty Zimmerman and Alma Potter; nephews Richard Lewis, Jim Lewis and Mark Lewis; a sister-in-law, Marcella Lewis and several great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren D. Hamilton, in May 1962 ; two brothers, Dean Lewis and Glenn Lewis; a sister-in-law, Wilma Lewis; two nephews, Joseph Lewis and John Mullins; two great-nephews, Bryan Mullins and Rich Mullins.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. David Mullins and Rev. Brooks Martin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12:00 noon-1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, at the funeral home.
