Stanley D. Williamson
Stanley D. Williamson, 72, of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, April 26, at Reid Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1939 in Economy, Indiana to Wayne and Zelma Wilson Williamson. He graduated from Economy High School in 1957 and married the former Janice Henderson on July 30, 1960. Stanley farmed all of his life and was owner & operator of Williamsburg Farm Service, where he and his son worked together. He was a Charter Member of the Wayne County Tractor Club and was well-known for his restoration and paintwork of antique tractors. He was a former board member of the Wayne County 4-H Association and was active in 4-H throughout his life. Each year at fair time, Stanley would lead the daily tractor parades and also enjoyed tractor pulls. He and his tractors were fixtures in the many area parades. Stanley attended the Galilean Baptist Church and was former president of the Williamsburg Cemetery Association. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, his dogs and was an avid Colts fan.
Stanley will be missed by his wife, Jan Williamson, Williamsburg; daughters, Janet Becraft-Craig and her husband, Kevin, New Castle; and Carrie Smith, Centerville; 5 grandchildren, Kayla, Caitlin, Brooklyn, Caribbean and Pacifica; a granddaughter by friendship, Amber; brothers, Maurice Williamson and his wife, June, West Lafayette; Quentin Williamson and his wife, Ruth, Richmond; several nieces and nephews.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; son, Duane Williamson; son-in-law, Mike Becraft; sister-in-law, Jeanette Love.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Jimmy Slaven and Pastor Greg Guffey at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the funeral home.
