Thomas R. Brown, 64, of Fountain City, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 24 at Reid Hospital.
Born October 6, 1945 in Jellico, Tennessee, he was the son of James Winchester and Gladys Marie Reynolds Brown.
Tom was a devoted Christian was an ordained Baptist minister. He enjoyed assisting the ministry of Galilean Baptist Church in Centerville, where he was a member and Secretary-Treasurer of the Board. He also taught Sunday school and ministered at Pinehurst Living Center. He retired 4 years ago from SILGAN Closures, where he was a Lug Technician. In his free time, he enjoyed working on old cars and fixing anything that needed repaired.
Tom will be missed by his wife, the former Joyce E. Jones, whom he married August 10, 1985; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mike Stoner, Centerville; grandchildren, Justin Jones, Centerville; Jennifer Morris and her husband, Seth, Fountain City; and Tim Dirkhising, Centerville; 1 great-grandson, Canaan; 3 brothers, Edmund Brown, Batavia, Ohio; Paul Brown and Ernest Brown, both of Williamsburg, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his second great-grandchild.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister that died in infancy.
Pastor Greg Guffey and Pastor Jimmy Slaven will share in the celebration of Tom’s life at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, at the funeral home.
