Thomas A. Hatfield, 80, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, January 8.
He was born on February 22, 1933 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania to Arthur Oliver Hatfield, Sr. and Mildred Louise Rice Hatfield. Tom moved to the Richmond community in 1965, where he formerly worked for Nettle Creek Industries. He also drove a school bus for Richmond Community Schools for 30 years before his retirement.
Tom loved solving crossword puzzles and making his regular rounds to Carverâs and Meijer, where he enjoyed visiting with his friends.
Tom will be missed by his wife of 36 years, Carol Smith-Hatfield; daughters, Tami Williams, Dianne Shake, Cheryl Patterson and her husband, David; and Lorna Smith; sons, Mark Smith and his wife, Kim; Daniel Smith and his wife, Sandy; and Matthew Smith; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Sandra Ward and Janet McManis.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, January 13, at the funeral home.
