Mrs. Vernis Lipps, 89, of Fountain City, passed away on Thursday, October 27, at Friends Fellowship Community.
She was born on December 25, 1926 in Botto, Kentucky to Alonzo and Bessie Wagers Delph. She was retired from Avon, where she was a computer operator. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching sports.
Mrs. Lipps will be missed by her daughter, Pamela Helton; son & daughter-in-law, Heyward & Meryl Lipps; three grandchildren, James (Elizabeth) Helton, Sarah Helton Bell (Jason) and Matthew Helton; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Helton Becker (Ryan) and Shalie Bell, and several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Lipps was preceded in death by her parents, husband, SGM (Ret.) Jimmie Lipps, in March 2008; sisters, Velva Miladnov, Reafie Hatfield and Flossie Wagers; and brother. Charlie Delph.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Bro. Johnny Shepard, Jr. at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, November 11, at the funeral home.
