Virginia Lea Ruble Sokol, 58, of Fountain City, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, in the presence of her loving family.
She was born on April 24, 1959 in Winchester, Indiana to Joseph R. and Ruby Ethel Necessary Ruble. She graduated from Northeastern High School in 1977.
Lea worked at Northeastern High School from 1997-2007. She later worked as a registrar in outpatient imaging at Reid Health and just recently received her 10-year service pin. Lea attended Fountain City Wesleyan Church and always carried a strong faith in God. She enjoyed being a softball mom to her girls, shopping, tending her flower gardens, remodeling her house constantly and the companionship of her Chihuahuas, Juanita, Pedro, Tequila and Rosalita.
Lea will be missed by her husband of 33 years, Steve Sokol, whom she married on July 28, 1984; daughters, Olivia Parker and her husband, Spencer; Stephanie Sokol; son, Quinton Allen and his wife, Emily; grandchildren, Ella James Allen, Sam Michael Allen and Haisley Pearl Parker, due in June 2018; sisters, Priscilla Klosterman, Jeanette Railsback and her husband, Paul; brother, Bill Ruble; brother-in-law, Bob Woodard; and several nieces and nephews.
Lea was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Nash Plankenhorn; sister, Vickie Jo Gray-Woodard; and brothers-in-law, Jim Klosterman and Daryl Gray.
Pastor Steve Mathews will conduct a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 6, at the funeral home.
