Wayne Thomas “Tom†Shonkwiler, 79, passed away Friday, July 20, at Reid Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1933 in Richmond to George and Gladys Fawcett Shonkwiler. He served in the US Marine Corps at the rank of Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. He worked on the railroads many years and drove a cement truck several years before retirement.
Mr. Shonkwiler is survived by his son, Gary Shonkwiler, of Richmond; former wife, Esther Wood, of Richmond; brother, Larry Shonkwiler, of Cambridge City; nephews and cousins.
Mr. Shonkwiler was preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant sons and a brother, Keith Shonkwiler.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, in Willow Grove Cemetery.
No visitation is planned.
