William A. "Bill" Sadler

d. February 10, 2025

Fountain City

William A. Sadler was greeted by Jesus, his wife, his son, and many others when he passed on Feb 10, 2025. Dad, Papaw, Pops, Uncle Bill, Bill, and Billy left us before he had to shovel one more ounce of snow, something he did not look forward to doing. He left just in time to watch the Daytona 500 from the best seats.

Bill was known for a lot of things. He was not only a NASCAR fan, but also an original Reds and IU Basketball fan (but only under Bobby Knight). He had a love of horses that stemmed back years. He would easily give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. But, if advice was what you were looking for, he was definitely your guy. There wasn't much he couldn't do when it came to cars, tractors, and all things mechanical.

Those who remember the days of old, will remember Bill delivering 7Up, or even cabinets. He was perhaps best remembered for being an entertaining and fierce basketball referee and softball umpire. It was incredible to watch him shout, "Steeeeerike!" as he traveled down the first base line. He was dedicated to giving back to the community in those ways.

His primary career involved being a customer service supervisor at Cinram in Richmond, Indiana. It was amazing to hear the stories of how he worked through the music industry with the production and progression of records, 8 tracks, cassette tapes, and finally CDs. It opened the door for many traveling opportunities, unique food experiences, and even meeting some pretty incredible musicians and people in the music industry.

What people will remember most, however, is just what a good man Bill Sadler was. He loved his wife. He loved his family, including grandchildren and great grandchildren When his wife Marilyn (Schankel) Sadler passed away 8 years ago, he picked up the torch to lead his family in continued traditions. This included big family meals and epic Christmas displays.

Not only was he preceded in death by his wife (Marilyn) of nearly 69 years, his son Randy passed Jan 23, 2025. Bill was ready to see them both, as well as his parents William J. Sadler and Virginia (Boomershine) Sadler, and his brother Larry. He leaves behind a large family and will forever miss his smile and sass.

Bill leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Kathy (Owens) Sadler and she and Randy's son Jeremy (Jessica) Sadler and their three boys, along with their daughter Kristy (Richie) Anderson and their son. He will be missed by his first daughter, Robin (Duane) Moore and their children, daughter Melissa (Mike Blanco) Haskell and children, son Chris Price and his three children and son Justin Moore. He will also be missed by his second daughter Renee (Ronnie) Pennington and their two children, Shawn (Jennifer) Pennington and their two children, and Nikki (Cody) Peed and their two children. Finally, his last daughter, Rett (Tony) Foster and their three children, Abby, Laney, and Hudson. He also leaves behind a brother, Mike (Beverly) Sadler and their children, and a sister Peg (Dennis) Young and their son. He also has several nieces, nephews, and friends. What an incredible legacy.

A private Celebration of Life will be held with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Fountain City Forward, an organization promoting the growth and development of Bill's hometown, Fountain City. fountaincityforward.org
