William A. Weatherhead

William A. "Bill" Weatherhead, 89, of Williamsburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, at Reid Hospital.


Born May 18, 1920 in
Christiansburg, Ohio, he was the son of Arthur and Susan Freihofer Weatherhead. He served in the US Army during World War Two in the Pacific Theatre. He married the former Marjorie Bane on January 20, 1946 and shared 52 years of marriage until her death on March 31, 1998.


Mr. Weatherhead attended Earlham College. He formerly worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad and for Crosley before going to work at Belden in 1957. He retired in 1982 and took up golfing. He also enjoyed woodworking and tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He was of the Nazarene faith. He helped care for Williamsburg Cemetery for several years and had served as president of the cemetery association.


Mr. Weatherhead will be missed by his son & daughter-in-law, Bill S. and Bonnie Weatherhead, of Muncie; 2 granddaughters, Kelley J. Thomas, Lorton, Virginia and Kristin A. Ramsey, Muncie; 2 great-grandchildren, Mia Ashlyn Ramsey and Madden Cole Ramsey; 1 brother, George R. Freihofer, Huber Heights, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.


Mr. Weatherhead was preceded in death by his parents and wife, 1 son, Robert Weatherhead, in 1963; 3 sisters, Mary, Grace and Bernice.


A graveside ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Max Knight at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, in Williamsburg Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
