William L. “Bill” Barker, 79, of Fountain City, passed away Wednesday, May 30, at Reid Hospital.
    He was born July 11, 1932 in Wayne County, Indiana to James R. & Marie Watts Barker. He worked for International Harvester before entering the US Army in 1952. He served in the Korean War with the 35th Infantry Regiment. He married the former Patsy Ann Hunt on April 1, 1953. They shared 59 years of marriage and raised 3 children.
   Mr. Barker was retired from Richmond Gear and had worked for Acme Pattern and Sears in Richmond. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
   Mr. Barker will be missed by his daughter & son-in-law, Nonalee & Dave Schneider, of Richmond; sons, Dan Barker and Bill Barker & his wife, Patty, all of Fountain City; 6 grandchildren, Nathan (Kim) Schneider, Fountain City; Michelle (Brandon) Neagle, Fountain City; Brandi (Charles) Ohlson, Colorado; Erica (Nathan) Novark, California; Jackie (Ryan) Davis, Illinois; Jason (Christy) Barker, Wyoming; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Dorothy McMillan, of Richmond; 1 brother, Robert Barker, of Eaton; OH and several nieces & nephews.
   Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Wilbur Barker and David Barker.
   A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Fuzzy Lake at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment with military rites will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
   Family & friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, at the funeral home.
